Assistant Principal's Message
Dear Parents, Carers and the St Joseph’s Community,
We are on our Lenten Journey, a season of grace, time of prayer and spiritual renewal. This third week of Lent we reflect on the parable of the Fig Tree and our call to repentance. Let us open our hearts and minds to God's forgiveness, healing and mercy.
Loving God, you give us forty days to journey into the inner mountains of our hearts and lives. Let these sacred days be a time when we seek and find you with in each of us. Make this time of Lent a time to listen to your voice and be guided by your spirit.
Saint Joseph Feast Day
This Saturday, 19 March is the Feast of Saint Joseph. St Joseph was a man of faith, action and strength. This week I encourage you to reflect on how, like St Joseph we can trust in God, love courageously and protect others unconditionally.
Please see the RE section of the Newsletter for information on how we will celebrate this special day as a school community on Friday.
Unexplained Absences
Last week, an email was sent to families of students with unexplained absences. It is important that all student absences are lodged using the Compass Parent Portal. This can be done prior to your child being away, on the day of their absence or in a timely manner after they return to school. Maintaining and following up absences in a legal requirement so I appreciate your help in keeping your records up to date. If you have any questions regarding Compass please do not hesitate to contact me via phone or email.
P&F Meeting tonight, 7pm
A reminder that all members of our school community are invited to join the P&F Meeting which is being held via Teams this evening at 7pm. These meetings are a great way for you to be involved in fundraising initiatives by sharing your ideas and skill sets. You can access the meeting using the below link. We hope to “see” you there.
RATs Kits
Today we sent home the last of the Rats kits that were provided to us by the ACT Government. To date we have not been advised of any extension to this initiative. Thank you for your continued coopeRATion in monitoring your children for symptoms and keeping them home if unwell. A reminder that if your child tests positive to COVID, please email cameron.tarrant@cg.catholic.edu.au so that we can track the number of cases in the school and advise the community accordingly.
‘Nachos’ Gracias
Once again, the P&F Nacho Day Fundraiser was a huge success, raising a whopping $850! Thank you to Nichole H for coordinating the day and to her trusty band of helpers, Katie J, Tash WG, Nicol B, Julie-Anne W, Tiffany F and Danni from Camp Australia for pulling together another nacho feast for the students. Thank you also to all the families who ordered nachos, you not only filled your child’s stomach, you helped raise funds for the P&F which will be put back into the school community – nachos gracias!
If you are looking for other ways to contribute to the P&F Fundraising, don’t forget that you can drop your recyclable cans and bottles into the green bin in front of the school hall.
I hope you have an enjoyable end to the week.
