Principal's Message

    Dear parents and carers,

    Screenshot_566_.png

In the Catholic Church the month of May is Mary’s month. It’s the month we honour Blessed Mary as the Mother of Jesus and our Heavenly Mother. As our mother, Mary is an example of a committed “Yes” to the will of God. Since Mary was the first to hear about the mission of Jesus, she can be considered his first disciple. She dedicated her life on earth to following him and supporting his work. She showed others how to follow Jesus as well. Her faith came from an understanding of the great gifts that God had given to her, especially the gift of her son Jesus. Mary was also with Jesus when he carried his cross. She witnessed the terrible deeds that others committed against him. Because of her faith, Mary did not leave Jesus when he was suffering. Even through her pain, she stood at the foot of the cross comforting her son. This May, how will you honor the Blessed Virgin Mary and allow her to conquer your own heart?

    House Point Recycling Challenge

It's time to start collecting your 10-cent recyclable cans and bottles for our Recycling Challenge which will take place in Week 4. Not only is this a great way to earn coveted house points, but you can also help the environment and raise funds for the P&F at the same time!

    ELC

At the end of Week 5, we will farewell Cary Williams in our ELC as she heads to take on a new position at Canberra Girls Grammar. We wish Carly all the best and thank her for her care and energy in the Green Frogs.

    Seasons for Growth

The Seasons for Growth Children and Young People's Program strengthens the social and emotional wellbeing of children and young people (aged 6-18 years) who have experienced significant change or loss in their lives. The program provides a safe learning environment for children and young people where they can give voice to their experiences, understand and befriend their feelings, learn skills that help them adapt, develop friendships, and recognise ‘I’m not the only one’.

Seasons for Growth is an innovative, evidence-based change, loss and grief education program that draws on the metaphor of the seasons to understand the experience of grief. It builds the knowledge and skills necessary to strengthen social and emotional wellbeing following significant loss by:

    • Exploring the impact of change and loss
    • Learning about effective ways to respond and adapt

Participants learn that they are not alone in their experience of change, loss and grief, and are able to build their communication, decision making and problem solving skills within the context of a safe and supportive peer group learning environment.

All Seasons for Growth programs are grounded in sound, person-centred educational principles.

St Joseph’s would like to offer this program here at school. Jo Krippner will run this program and is looking for students who would benefit from being a part of ‘Seasons for Growth’. If you would like your child to have the opportunity to be involved please email Jo at jo.krippner@cg.catholic.edu.au

    Yours in Christ,

    Cameron Tarrant
