Deepening Our St Joseph’s Catholic Identity
On our mission to deepen our St Joseph’s Catholic identity, we are learning about what it means to live our charism and what it means to be a “Joey.” During prayer, led by Year 6 this Friday we will begin to unpack the third of our St Joseph’s Values: A Joey is courageous with Challenges.
Saint Mary Mackillop’s trust in God’s will and loving providence enabled her to embrace challenges with courage. Courage is the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty. Saint Mary Mackillop faced many difficulties throughout her life from within the Catholic Church, her Josephite community and loss of loved ones. Throughout all these challenges, which included being excommunicated from the church in 1871, Mary was steadfast in her faith to her “Good God.” In 1893 Saint Mary Mackillop said,
“ Let no obstacle deter us from proceeding with courage.”
May our faith in our good God be as steadfast as Mary’s and our courage as strong, as we navigate challenges in our own lives.
