Assistant Principal's Message
Dear Parents, Carers and the St Joseph’s Community,
Dear God, I pray that we may know we are the apple of your eye. You watch us with delight and joy. You never leave or forsake us. May the only shadows we experience be from your covering as your light shines about us. Help us to trust your goodness and kindness even during the most difficult days, so that we can climb under your wing close to your heart. Thank you for your Holy Spirit who fills us with joy and peace. Amen.
Yesterday we began our lunchtime Netball and Touch Football round-robin for students in Years 2 to 6. It was wonderful to see the teams engage in friendly competition, with plenty of sweat but even more laughs. Thank you to Mrs Allan for her organisation of this initiative and to Mr Kucher, Miss Moore, Miss Palmer and Miss Taliano for taking the time out of their break times to allow these games to take place.

Walk to School Day
This Friday is National Walk Safely to School Day. Walk Safely to School Day is a reminder for all of us to consider our transport habits and try to incorporate more walking as part of a healthy, active way to get around. As walking all the way to school isn’t realistic for many in our community, we invite our students to meet at O’Connor Shops at 8:15am this Friday to enjoy the sunshine and walk to school with the supervision of teachers.
Nacho Day
Today our stomachs were blessed with another delicious Nacho Lunch Day. As we have had to cancel this year’s School Fete due to Covid-19, these days are an important fundraising initiative of the P&F. Days like this would not be possible without the tireless (and seamless) work of the P&F and our cooking helpers or without your contributions, so a huge thank you to all who made it possible for us to raise another $1000 today.
Social and Emotional Learning
As I mentioned in my previous Newsletter, my focus over the past fortnight has been on being a ‘Bucket Filler’. I have given the students a 30-day challenge to make sure they fill someone’s bucket every day. As a mother, my bucket gets filled when my son takes an interest in me by simply asking how my day was. I wonder if you have noticed your child filling your bucket?
This coming fortnight, my focus in classrooms will be on resilience. Resilient children bounce back from adversity, they know that it is okay to fail. They do not see failure as an endpoint, but as an opportunity for new learning. Resilience helps all of us to feel energised to keep going. You may like to get a jump start on me and use some of the below phrases at home to help build resilience in your child when they are faced with a difficult situation.
I hope you have an enjoyable end to the week.
Yours in Christ,
Assistant Principal
