Sustainability in Action
Welcome to the Bee Cafe
After a semester-long unit on our favourite pollinators, the Year 1s have assembled their Bee Cafe using only upcycled containers. We are hopeful this special space will bring lots of great pollinating for our Kitchen Garden program.
If you are looking to part with any old containers (we have pots, tires, gumboots, watering cans, etc), we would love to incorporate them into our Bee Cafe!

Book Week is in Week 5 next term and we have lots of amazing book related activities planned. I will send out more information at the start of next term about that, but before that happens, we are going to have a visit from the AMAZING author R.A. Spratt. Rachel is only visiting two Canberra schools and we are one of them (!) and she will be talking to Years 3-6s on the 7th of August (Week 3). We have been excitedly looking at and borrowing her books, but if you haven't got your hands on one just yet, a great way to get to know Rachel and her awesome stories is to listen to her Podcast.
.
BEDTIME STORIES WITH RA SPRATT
They are short, funny stories, often retells of classic fairytales, myths and legends and are great for car trips with the whole family.
You also have the opportunity to buy some of her books. Follow the instructions on the following flyer to order through Lamont before the 22nd of July and they will be delivered to the school before the event to be signed by Rachel on the day! You can still order after this date, but they won't be able to be signed.
Don't worry if you are in ELC - Year 2 as you will have a visit from Amelia McInerney during Book Week and will have a chance to order signed copies of her great picture books in the lead up.

We finished the term with marshmallow construction fun and an end of term pizza and popcorn party.
I hope you all have a restful break over the holidays and stay warm. Thanks for making my first few weeks at St Joseph’s such fun. I look forward to seeing you next term.
